STORY
Clayton and Troy strive to
focus on their riders’ needs with every board being custom made to order.
Guzt’s roots lay in a happy surprise. Clayton Morris looking to enter a Business Plan Competition at Allegheny College, solving the problem that he faces on an annual basis of traveling with his kites from western Pa to Hawaii or other kiting destinations. For the sake of the competition, Clayton wanted a Prototype of an adjustable sized kite mocked up. Troy, a longtime friend, and Clayton’s first kite instructor was the obvious choice to make the prototype. Weeks after they discussed the adjustability Clayton received a call from Troy exclaiming the kite worked! It performed as a 9m and 12m kite efficiently and safely. From there they formed a partnership in Guzt to innovate in the sport they both love. Guzt currently is refining the adjustable kite design to release the best product while they create specialized boards which give riding a skate style feel. Clayton and Troy strive to manufacture as much of their products locally on Maui and focus on their riders’ needs with every board being custom made to order.
